Women's downhill race postponed
The women's downhill race at the World Championships, due to take place on Sunday, has been postponed due to excessive snowfall in the French resort of Val d'Isère.
Initially the start was delayed for an hour, then two hours, but ultimately the organisers decided they couldn't get the race off.
Officials said up to 25cm fell in some spots on the course, making the turns too dangerous.
The women's race will now be run Monday between the downhill and slalom runs of the men's super-combined event.
Anja Pärson of Sweden is the defending champion.
Swiss teenager Lara Gut, who won combined silver on Friday, and Lindsey Vonn of the United States are among the favourites to win.
