Swissquote buys

The Swiss internet service provider, Swissquote, has bought the business operations of the Swiss-based firm for an undisclosed sum.

In a statement on Thursday, Swissquote said that it will take over the data bases, customers and domain name of as well as part of its staff.

"By acquiring the business operations of, we are underscoring our determination to steadily expand the content available on our financial portal, thereby offering our customers new and targeted services," said Marc Buerki, joint chief executive of Swissquote.

Swissquote already announced on Tuesday that it had been granted a licence to run an online bank by the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. It plans to launch its new Swissquote Bank in the first quarter of next year.
