A Swisscom executive has staged a partial management buy-out of one of the company's subsidiaries. The former head of Swisscom Mobile, Walter Heutschi (pictured), is to take control of Comfone, which focuses on international roaming.
Comfone's area of business - international roaming - enables customers to use their mobile phones across country borders.
Swisscom will retain a 25 per cent stake in the subsidiary, which currently has 40 employees.
Swisscom and Walter Heutschi believe that, as an independent company, Comfone will be better placed to concentrate on its core activities.
Currently, Comfone operates about 500 roaming connections with 90 network operators.
Heutschi will be replaced as Swisscom Mobile by Carsten Schloter, who is also a member of Swisscom's executive board.
