(AP) -- A leading Swiss store pulled a pancake mix made by Quaker Oats from its shelves Thursday after an analysis showed it contained genetically altered corn illegal in Switzerland.

The Globus chain said it withdrew Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix because a study commissioned by the environmental group Greenpeace revealed the presence of Monsanto 810 genetically altered corn.

Swiss authorities have approved only two types of genetically altered corn, both produced by Swiss multinational Novartis. MON 810 corn remains banned amid continuing consumer resistance in Switzerland and other European countries to genetically engineered foods.

Greenpeace said in a statement that despite the legal restrictions, a "large quantity" of genetically modified products were in circulation in Switzerland.
