Swiss producers receive praise at environmental film festival

A film looking at the enduring use of cork has won a top German prize Keystone

Two Swiss films have received awards at the 17th Ökomedia film festival in Germany.

The festival, which shines a spotlight on environment-related films, was held in the German city of Fribourg.

The golden lynx award for the best nature film was given to Frédéric Gonseth and Catherine Azads for their film "Stadt der Tiere" (City of Animals).

Vadim Jendreyko's film "Uralt und doch modern: Naturstoff Kork" (As old as the world but still modern: the cork tree, a product of nature) won the German Environment Ministry's "prix special". The award comes with about SFr4,000 in prize money.
