Swiss Life to shed 280 jobs

The insurance company Rentenanstalt/Swiss Life says it is going to shed 280 jobs over the next year. The company says most of losses will be among its administrative staff, but it does not anticipate any forced redundancies - it says the jobs will be shed through voluntary resignations and retirements.
The cuts come as part of a restructing aimed at increasing the company's share of the personal insurance market. Job losses will be spread throughout Switzerland.
Rentenanstalt/Swiss Life says it also plans to increase its activities in two other areas: 50 new jobs will be created in its e-commerce division, and there are also plans to create a new finance and risk management department, through the merger of two existing sections.
