Swiss driver Hefti to miss two-man bob

Swiss bobsleigh driver Beat Hefti is out of the two-man race after suffering a crash on Wednesday night.

Hefti, the world’s top two-man driver, needed to have at least two training runs at the Whistler Sliding Center track in order to participate in Sunday’s race.

Hefti suffered bruises to his body and a concussion after his crash. He missed Thursday’s training and said he would not train on Friday.

It is not certain whether Hefti, who won a bronze medal in the two-man four years ago at Turin, will start in the four-man event.

Substitute driver Daniel Schmid will replace Hefti in the two-man event.
