“The initial goal [of winning two medals] was achieved but we shall carry out an analysis of both the good and bad results,” commented Ruedi Spitzli, head of the Swiss team.

Christoph Kunz won gold in last Thursday’s men’s sitting downhill event that was characterized by heavy wet snow and fog.

“In a competition at the Paralympic Games you have to take risks, you have to risk everything, and that’s what happened,” Kunz said.

It was the second medal for the 27-year-old after taking silver in the sitting giant slalom a day earlier.

Michael Brugger took silver in the men’s standing downhill competition.

Switzerland won two medals at the previous games in Turin in 2006.
