The 59-year-old American rocker won his Swiss fans over by starting the evening with an accordion version of a popular Bernese folk song.

It was the only Swiss appearance by Springsteen and the E Street Band on the six-month tour, which began in New Jersey in March.

Springsteen, known for hit songs such as Born to Run and Streets of Philadelphia, most recently performed in Switzerland – in Zurich – in 1999.

Swiss Federal Railways put on an additional 30 trains to transport fans to the venue, the Stade de Suisse stadium.
