Social networking for all creatures

A young man from Zurich has developed a Facebook-like social networking website aimed squarely at household pets.

This content was published on May 22, 2009 - 14:18

The service allows owners to create profiles, post photos and exchange messages. Michel Lazecki, the founder of PetSite.com, says people will probably benefit more than the animals.

Visitors to the site can vote for an overall "pet of the week" – and also along species lines, such as dogs, cats and ferrets.

"We have only been online for a few days and already have 300 members from the United States, England, Canada, Australia, Germany and of course, Switzerland," said a surprised Lazecki.
