Although grass is not Schnyder's favourite surface to play on, she easily overcame her opponent 6-2, 6-2.

After Thursday's match, the Basel player revealed that she now feels more comfortable playing on grass.

"It's true that I feel more confident on grass, especially my backhand and service. I improved my game today and I thought I played really well. I'm very satisfied," Schnyder said.

Schnyder admitted that her next encounter with America's Lindsay Davenport would be tough. She has only ever won two sets during the four matches she has played against the 1999 Wimbledon champion.
