The President of the Swiss Post Office's governing body has strongly criticised the outgoing head of the Post Office, Reto Braun, for leaving the organisation after just 16 months.
He also took issue with Braun over the last year's debacle at the national parcel distribution service, saying it cost the organisation between 80 and 100 million francs.
Fischer told Swiss Radio DRS that it was "irresponsible" for a person in Braun's position to resign after such a short time. The 58-year-old Braun is leaving the Post Office next month to take up a position at the information technology concern, Fantastic Corporation.
Fischer also had strong words about the debacle at the national parcel distribution service. Three senior managers resigned last September, after software glitches wreaked havoc throughout the service, creating huge bottlenecks. Fischer said the errors had cost the post office up to Sfr100 million.
Fischer said it was unlikely that he would offer Braun a job now, given the circumstances of his tenure.
