Suspects were taken into custody in Austria, Canada, Bulgaria, Germany, the United States, Spain and Switzerland. There were 22 arrests. The principal administrator of the network is in detention in Switzerland.

Officials told reporters on Wednesday that those detained and identified were suspected of being part of an online German-language paedophile community where users exchanged images, videos and experiences.

The children in video clips exchanged on the forum are aged between eight and 12. Some appear to come from the family circles of the participants, according to police.
