The Council of Europe, the continent's human rights watchdog, has confirmed it will look into allegations of organ trafficking made by Carla del Ponte.

She claims, based on what she calls credible eyewitness reports, that in the late 1990s members of the Kosovo Liberation Army transported 300 Serbian prisoners to Albania where they were killed and their organs removed.
A Russian member of the council's parliamentary assembly had demanded an investigation, a request that was approved last week.
A report is expected in June according to Andreas Gross, one of the Swiss representatives in the Strasburg-based assembly, but will probably not be discussed before next year.
