Nextrom changes strategy

The Swiss manufacturing group, Nextrom Holding, said on Wednesday that it is to change its business strategy to focus exclusively on equipment and solutions for fibre optic systems.

The company, based in Ecublens in canton Vaud, will reorganise its metallic cable, pipe and film equipment businesses into separate units and ultimately sell them.

Nextrom said the restructuring, which should be completed within two years, would not cost any jobs either in Switzerland or abroad.

The company estimates that demand for fibre optics should more than double in the next few years.
