New job for Trossero
Enzo Trossero has agreed to take over as manager of Argentinian football club Independiente, less than three weeks after resigning as manager of the Swiss national side.
The 48-year-old Argentinian announced his resignation just two days after Switzerland's 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat at home to Slovenia on June 6. He immediately left for his homeland and was widely expected to join Independiente.
Trossero is reported to have signed a one-year contract for $600,000. His first objective will be to halt the slide of the once mighty Buenos Aires club, which only avoided relegation by a single point last season.
Despite the setback of the Slovenia defeat, Switzerland are still hoping to qualify for the World Cup finals under the guidance of Trossero's successor Köbi Kuhn.
