Meichtry breaks Swiss swimming record
Swiss swimmer Dominik Meichtry has finished the world championships with a record Swiss time of 53” 54 in the 100-metre butterfly event.
However, his best time did not allow him to reach the semifinals at the World Championships in Shanghai.
He would have needed to swim a second faster to go further in the competition.
Meichtry, who comes from St Gallen, swam the distance in two hundredths of a second less than he did in the European championships in Budapest a year ago.
Flori Lang from Zurich experienced the same fate after his two events in the 50-metre crawl. His performance of 22” 80 put him in 31st place
To reach the top 16, he would have had to swim a time of 22” 33.

In compliance with the JTI standards
