Coach Sean Simpson’s team reacted well to their disappointing opening match on Friday in which they edged France 1-0 in sudden death overtime.

Ryan Gardner scored twice in Kosice on Sunday. “We were ready right from the start,” he said after the match. “The puck was moving well, our legs were there and our forechecking [a defensive play] was good.”

The Swiss now face Canada, also unbeaten, in their last match in Group B on Tuesday.
