Hoffmann wins podium place in Super-G
Switzerland's Ambrosi Hoffmann has won third place in a men's Super-G World Cup race in Austria.
He was 0.39 seconds behind the winner, Klaus Kröll of Austria who finished the course on Friday in Kitzbühel in 1 minute, 12.78 seconds. Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway came second.
The last time Hoffmann had a top-three finish was at the 2005 Olympic Games in Italy, where he took third in the Super-G.
"I am really happy to be back on the podium after all this time. And especially at Kitzbühel. It is a good course for me," Hoffman later said, adding that he would be pushing for another podium place in the downhill race on Saturday.
Fellow Swiss Didier Cuche missed a podium place by four seconds.
Kröll competed despite having broken three bones in his right hand during a crash while training in Wengen eight days before.
Overall World Cup leader Benjamin Raich is at the top of the standings with 638 points.
