The winner, whose measurements and hobbies were not immediately available, took home first prize at Eurobrune, a competition in the town of Clermont-Ferrand.

She was part of a larger Swiss delegation that defeated stiff competition from France, Italy, Germany and Austria to be named "Best in Europe".

"The Swiss squad, Sunlight, Bounce, Enzian and Joujou, convinced the jury with their uniformity," said the Swiss Brown Cattle Breeders' Association.

Clermont-Ferrand is one of the largest international trade shows in Europe specialising in livestock production. This year some 1,150 exhibitors and 75,000 professional visitors, including 2,000 from abroad, attended.

In addition, more than 1,800 animals of high genetic value were presented at the show, including 22 cattle breeds, 26 sheep breeds and 16 horse breeds.
