Züberbuhler picked up the injury during the 4-1 defeat suffered by his new club, Bayer Leverkusen, against Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

He was injured in the first half but continued playing, following treatment at half-time. He suffered a torn muscle, but expressed confidence in a quick recovery. "I heal quickly from this kind of injury," he said.

However, on Monday it became clear Zuberbühler would be unfit to play for at least four weeks. He will miss a game against Fortuna Köln in a cup match next Sunday, and Switzerland's first 2002 World Cup qualifying match against Russia in two weeks' time
