Giuliano Sommerhalder: Romantic Virtuosity

Romantic Virtuosity swissmusic

Late Romantic. Have you ever wondered how a Romantic trumpet concert would sound like? Uprising young Swiss trumpet star Giuliano Sommerhalder answers this question in stunning performances of neglected works for trumpet and orchestra. On "Romantic Virtuosity" Sommerhalder puts special emphasize on rare Russian concert pieces by legendary composers Wladimir Peskin and both German emigrants Wassilij Brandt and Oskar Böhme. Peskin's Concerto no. 1 in C minor evokes memories of Rakhmaninov and surprises with almost violinistic virtuosity. Giuliano Sommerhalder is accompanied by the "Neue Philharmonie Westfalen" under Heiko Mathias Förster.
