The Frutigen singer/songwriter festival is warming up for its 15th edition. The festival's creator, Aschi Maurer, has attracted another strong line up for the event, which will run over three days starting on June 8.

Frutigen's motto has always been "quality through authenticity". While the organisers have always attracted singer/songwriter acts and their fans, they also want to appeal to the younger crowd.

This means the music isn't limited to folk singing - rock'n'roll, earthy blues and gospel are also on the programme.

In the past, the festival - which takes place not far from Bern - has presented class acts such as Kris Kristofferson, Rosanne Cash or the Mavericks. This year will be no different, with Aimee Mann and Michelle Shocked among the star performers.

The festival has two stages, one for the main acts, and a smaller one for the lesser-known names. It also proposes a workshop for aspiring musicians hosted by Wale Liniger, who will be performing as well.

The organisation of the festival has also been improved this year, with the promoters of Bern's Gurten music festival coming aboard. The newcomers are providing logistical and media support.
