Fribourg capture national basketball title
Fribourg Olympic have defeated the Lugano Tigers to win their fifteenth Swiss national basketball championship.
Some 3,000 spectators turned out on Saturday to watch the Olympic post a 73-59 win over Lugano at the Sainte-Croix arena in Fribourg.
Lugano kept the game close through the first quarter, managing to keep the score tied at 19 points. The Olympic responded in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 20-8.
A late rally in the final ten minutes of the game failed to save the Tigers, who lost three straight in the best-of-five series.
Saturday's game was also the last for Fribourg player Harold Mrazek, is retiring after having won ten national championships, including six with Fribourg.
