Former Olten politician murdered

The former president of a local council in the town of Olten has been found murdered in the cellar of his drinks business. Local police said Hans Ulrich Leuenberger had been shot repeatedly.

It is believed that robbery could have been a motive. Residents living near Leunberger's company have told reporters that he would often work late into the evening, often being the last person to leave.

The police say they have no leads as yet, pending a report from the coroner in Berne.

Leuenberger, who was 71, served as the community president of Olten from 1985 until 1997.
