He came in 0.32 seconds behind the winner, Reinfried Herbst of Austria, on Saturday.

Albrecht's podium place comes in a discipline which has caused him problems this winter. After the first run, he was placed 10th but gained eight places with a speedy second round.

It is the 24-year-old's sixth top-three finish of his career.

The Italian, Manfred Mölgg, took the overall slalom title for this year, after finishing in 6th place.

Mölgg caught the slalom title leader, Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange, who had headed the rankings since mid-January after his victory in the Swiss resort of Wengen.
