Federer reaches Halle final
Switzerland's Roger Federer has made it through to the final of the Gerry Weber Open after beating Nicolas Kiefer of Germany.
The world number one won the grass ATP semifinal in Halle, Germany by 6-1, 6-4 in 65 minutes on Saturday.
Federer broke Kiefer's serve in the first game. He has served 39 times without a break so far during the tournament.
In the final he will face Philipp Kohlschreiber, of Germany, who beat the American James Blake by 6-3, 7-5 in the day's other semifinal.
At stake in Sunday's final is the €713,000 (SFr114,800) prize and a chance for Federer to redeem himself after a humiliating defeat at the French Open earlier this month.
Federer has won the Halle tournament four times and each time has followed with a consecutive win at Wimbledon.
