Federer and Wawrinka prepare for tennis battle
Swiss defending tennis champion Roger Federer has advanced to the fourth round of the French Open with another straight-sets victory.
Top-ranked Federer on Friday defeated qualifier Julian Reister of Germany 6-4, 6-0, 6-4 in the Roland Garros stadium.
In the next round of the clay tournament, Federer will on Sunday play fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka who beat Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 6-4, 6-1.
Federer didn’t face a single break point against Reister and had 34 winners. But he double-faulted on his first match point before finishing off the 165th-ranked player with a forehand winner.
Switzerland’s Marco Chiudinelli was knocked out of the competition on Thursday by John Isner of the United States 6-7, 7-6, 7-6,6-4.
