EuroAirport in Basel flies high

More planes and more passengers at EuroAirport Keystone

The number of passengers travelling through the EuroAirport at Basel-Mulhouse is on the increase. Some 1,785,825 people used the airport during the first six months, a rise of eight per cent compared to the same period last year.

The management of the EuroAirport said in a statement that the number of planes using the airport also increased over the same period by three per cent.

The figures are a boost to the Franco-Swiss airport that operates on the Swiss-French border near the Swiss city of Basel.

The airport also reported an increase in the number of passengers using scheduled flights, up 11 per cent at 1,418,929. However, charter traffic passengers dropped two per cent to 353,379.

On the cargo side of the operation, the airport also did better, with six per cent more freight carried, bringing the total tonnage passing through to 58.014 tonnes.
