Swiss composer Ernest Bloch was born on July 24, 1880 in Geneva in a Jewish family. He composed his first masterpieces in Switzerland. But his works did not have the audience they deserved. In July 1916 he leaves for America. 1920 - 1930 head of the Cleveland Institute and then the San Francisco Conservatory. After a stay in Europe between 1930 and 1938 Bloch travels back to the U.S.A.
