Davos crowned hockey champions – again
Davos are Swiss ice hockey champions for the 30th time after beating the Kloten Flyers 3-2 in the sixth match of the play-off finals. They ended the series 4-2.
This content was published on April 13, 2011 - 09:25After two consecutive defeats Davos fought back at Kloten’s home stadium to take the title from the Zurich team for the second time in three years.
The three winning goals came during three consecutive powerplays at 19, 21 and 21 minutes. The Kloten Flyers were weakened by the loss of their top scorer, the Finn Tommi Santala, who was injured at the end of the fifth play-off game.
Davos’ coach Arno del Curto said Tuesday evening’s victory was probably the sweetest so far as it had been so hard fought.
