Cuche finishes as best Swiss in Val d'Isère
All winners in Saturday's men's downhill world cup race in Val d'Isère, are Austrian with Hermann Maier finishing in first place, Stephan Eberharter in second and Fritz Strobl in third. The Swiss, Didier Cuche, came fifth.
Switzerland put on a fine overall performance as all its skiers finished in the top 10. Bern's Rolf von Weissenfluh surprised everyone by finishing in eighth position which was his best ever world cup rating.
Franco Cavegn of canton Graubünden finished in ninth place, which was a decent result.
The Austrians, meanwhile, reinforced their international dominance in downhill racing with their skiers occupying all four top positions. Hermann Meier, "The Herminator", carried on in his excellent form and even beat his strongest rival, Stephan Eberharter.
