Cross country skiers post first win in 30 years
Swiss cross country skiers won a four-by-ten-kilometre relay race on Sunday for the first time in the 30-year history of the World Cup contest.
Racers Toni Livers, Olympic medalist Dario Cologna, Remo Fischer and Curdin Perl posted a combined time of one hour, 42 minutes, 14.6 seconds, holding off Russia and Norway for the win in La Clusaz, France.
Up to now, the most talked-about result for the Swiss men’s cross-country relay team was a bronze medal at the Olympic games in Sapporo, Japan, in 1972.
Russia's team included Maxim Vylegzhanin and Alexander Legkov, who were first and third respectively in Saturday's 30-kilometer freestyle mass start race in the same French resort.
