Organisation targets cyber crime

The Swiss non-profit organisation Switch has launched an offensive against malicious online software.

This content was published on July 19, 2010 minutes

The company says it is blocking internet addresses in Switzerland which are misused for phishing – attempting to acquire personal details online by pretending to be a trustworthy source – or which disseminate so-called malware.

It is also removing them from the network.

A special unit is cooperating with financial service providers, government agencies and international specialists, according to a company statement on Monday.

Zurich-based Switch is an internet service provider to Swiss universities and the general public.
