Leuthard broaches tax affair issue
Swiss Economics Minster Doris Leuthard has discussed the German tax investigation in Liechtenstein during a visit to the principality on Monday.
She said that although the tax evasion fight was a concern to both Switzerland and Liechtenstein, both countries should retain autonomy in their fiscal affairs.
This meant managing their own fiscal law and any improvement of legislation in this domain, she said.
Her comments came after Swiss Finance Minister Hans-Rudolf Merz said on Saturday that there was no reason for Switzerland to be affected by the German tax investigation in Liechtenstein.
Germany launched a large-scale investigation into alleged tax evasion by some of its wealthy citizens earlier this month after its intelligence service paid for confidential banking records stolen from a wealth management group in Liechtenstein.
