Basketball: Lugano seek to keep Euroleague hopes alive
The Swiss basketball champions, Lugano, will be fighting to keep alive the last glimmering hope of European success on Thursday when they take on Zalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania.
The Ticino club beat the Kaunas at home in November. But that was their last success in the Euroleague, having lost all their away games. Now they stand bottom of their group.
Lugano must beat their Baltic rivals and then Adecco Estudiantes of Madrid at home in a week's time to stand any chance of progressing to the last 16 of the competition. Even then they must rely on Kaunas losing their last match.
The other games in this group are Peristeri Athens against Zadar of Croatia and Estudiantes against Fortitudo of Bologna.
Lugano will be hoping that they will still need their calculator in a week's time.
