Heinz Holliger (to whom Antal Dorati dedicated several works for oboe) is an oboist, a conductor and a composer. Born on 21 May 1939 at Langental in Switzerland, he studied music in Berne and Basle, before going on to the Paris Conservatoire. He teaches at the Staatliche Musikhochschule Freiburg (Germany).
