Ammann in Olympic form

Ski jumping World Cup leader Simon Ammann of Switzerland has won his fifth event of the season, coming first in Klingenthal, Germany.

The former two-time Olympic champion had jumps of 133 metres and 134 metres to collect 263.9 points.

Adam Malysz of Poland took second with 257.2 points, and Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria was third with 245.4.

Switzerland's other top ski jumper, Andreas Küttel, finished 24th.

After 18 of 23 events, Ammann leads the pack with 1,249 points. Austria's Gregor Schlierenzauer is second with 1,092, and third is another Austrian, Thomas Morgenstern with half as many points as the Swiss.

The win gives additional confidence to the 28-year-old Ammann heading into the Olympic Games in Vancouver.
