Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (OSA)

The Organisation of the Swiss Abroad, SwissCommunity (OSA)external link, is committed to maintaining the ties between Switzerland and its citizens abroad in accordance with Article 40 of the Federal Constitution. It is also aimed in particular at young Swiss people abroad.

Swiss Community pursues the following main objectives: representing, informing, networking, advising

The organisation of the Swiss abroad represents the interests of Swiss citizens living abroad vis-à-vis the Swiss authorities and the Swiss public at home. The mouthpiece of the Swiss diaspora is the Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA), which is composed of the Swiss communities abroad. iel to create added value for this community.

OSA informs compatriots abroad about important events and developments in Switzerland and provides voters abroad with the basic information they need to exercise their political rights in Switzerland.

It networks Swiss abroad with each other and with authorities, institutions and the Swiss public in Switzerland. To this end, it works together with Swiss associations and Swiss institutions abroad.

It advises Swiss nationals on questions relating to emigration, stays abroad and returning to Switzerland. Together with its partner organisations, they offer a wide range of services to the Swiss abroad.

SWI swissinfo.ch and OSA have a mandate to strengthen the ties between the Swiss abroad and their homeland. Both work together for the benefit of the Fifth Switzerland and pursue the goal of creating added value for this community.
